Our Pies
The Pie Plate is becoming well known for our Niagara Fruit Pies. Of course we make our own pastry from scratch, by hand, to make sure it's good and flakey. But really the star of the show is the Niagara Fruit!
It is so amazing to be able to go to a local farm in the morning and pick up fresh ripe fruit, bake it in a pie for you to enjoy later the same day!
Although you can request any one of the pies we make; in order to support Buying Local, Buying Fresh, during the summer months we like to promote the pies made with the fruits that are in season; often combining different fruits together in one pie. We buy extra fruit all summer to freeze and preserve so in the winter months we can still enjoy our local Niagara Fruit.
Here is a list of when the fruit pies are in season:
- Rhubarb - May & June, September & October
- Strawberry - June & July
- Elderberries - July
- Cherry - July is harvest time, but we have cherry pies available all the time
- Blueberry - June through September
- Peach - July - September We also make many combinations with the peaches, like peach/blueberry, peach/raspberry, peach/apricot/plum.
- Grape - September & October
- Pumpkin - September through December
- Apple - September through May - Apple combinations include: apple/apricot, apple/rhubarb, apple/plum
We also make cream pies: banana, coconut and chocolate covered in real cream, lemon meringue, and meat pies.
Our pies are made in a 9" deep dish tin and are priced from $13.95 - $15.00. Individual Pies are $4.25
